Sunrise Backpacking Engagement Session in the Angeles Crest
We had hoped for a sunrise just like this one, but instead we got cloudy skies, a hint of gold on the horizon, and freezing winds that gusted through the mountains, whipped up our hair, and froze what felt like would become permanent smiles on our faces. Temperatures leading up to this day had been moderate, and while I was prepared for a chilly morning in the mountains, we did not foresee how strong the wind (and windchill) would be! Nevertheless, G & S braved the winds, held each other for warmth, and laughed through the cold that penetrated every fiber of our beings. (PS. I was in FOUR layers that morning and was still freezing, so I can only imagine how these two felt with their very thin outfits!)
If I may say so myself, I think the photos speak for themselves of the kinds of people G & S are in the face of a storm, and the fun that was had that morning ;)
The Angeles Crest that overlooks the greater Los Angeles area is a huge favorite of mine. A short drive from the city gets you into the mountains with stunning views, whether from accessible turnouts from the highway, or from gorgeous hikes that take you to various summits along this mountain range.
