Joshua Tree Sunset Elopement in the Desert

M & A’s late spring elopement in the Joshua Tree desert was relaxed, emotional, and so, so special. They chose a just-us elopement without any guests, where they got ready separately, shared a sweet first look in the backyard of their BEAUTIFUL airbnb, and then excitedly facetimed their family & opened up letters from friends together while sharing a pre-celebratory glass of wine. They chose a very intentional and relaxed way of starting their day together, which really set the tone for the rest of their elopement experience.

We made our way into Joshua Tree National Park together, where we met up with their officiant Celene, who guided them through a very emotional and beautiful ceremony. Let’s just say, there were LOTS of tears shed. :’) While an officiant’s main job (as I see it) is to legally marry a couple, a great officiant personalizes the ceremony in a way that takes it a step (or two) further and makes it a truly special experience.

M & A chose to cut their cake following their ceremony at one of the picnic areas in the park, basking in that pre-sunset glow. As the sun dipped lower, we explored the desert with sunset portraits, ending the evening with a drive up to Keys View where we were greeted by pink skies over the Coachella Valley.

To end their very special & intimate elopement experience in Joshua Tree, M & A invited a private chef into their airbnb who cooked for them (and me! 🥹) an absolutely DELICIOUS dinner (don’t mind me, I’m still thinking about this meal almost a year later). What a day :’)
